The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has announced significant fee increases for various immigration benefits, effective July 22, 2025, pursuant to legislative changes introduced under H.R. 1 Reconciliation Bill. These new fees mark one of the most comprehensive updates in recent years and are expected to impact individuals, families, and businesses applying for immigration benefits across the board.
The updated fee structure stems from the agency’s need to better align its resources with the rising demand for services and ensure timely processing of applications. Beginning July 22, 2025, most immigration forms submitted to USCIS must include the new, higher filing fees. According to USCIS, any application postmarked on or after August 21, 2025, without the correct updated fee will be rejected.
Among the forms affected are:
- Form I-589 (Application for Asylum and Withholding of Removal)
- Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization)
- Form I-360 (Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant)
- Form I-821(Application for Temporary Protected Status)
Additionally, biometrics fees are now bundled into the base fee for several applications, streamlining but increasing the overall cost.
